Michael P. Sosso, Esquire

Mr. Sosso’s practice in workers’ compensation extends for almost two decades and includes an early period in which he represented claimants in workers’ compensation matters.  This provides him with unique insight in approach and application of defense strategy in representation of employers and insurance carriers.  Most recently, he was employed by Royal & SunAlliance.  He served first as Associate Managing and then Managing Attorney of the Pittsburgh Staff Counsel Office.  Ultimately, Mr. Sosso became the Regional Managing Attorney for Mid-Atlantic.  In this position, he was responsible for staff counsel offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and North Carolina.  He also served as National Peer Review Coordinator, conducting reviews of Staff Counsel in several additional states.  Mr. Sosso’s experience with Royal provided an “insider’s view” to the practice from the insurance carrier’s viewpoint, as well as significantly expanded his level of expertise.

Mr. Sosso has practiced in all counties of Pennsylvania and at all levels of the Worker’s Compensation system from the Workers’ Compensation Judge’s level to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.  He has lectured in the field of Workers’ Compensation, not only to attorneys, employers and insurance carriers, but also to physicians in a program specifically tailored to assisting doctors in addressing medical testimony and preparation of reports in workers’ compensation maters.  A graduate of Duquesne University School of Law in 1987, Mr. Sosso received numerous awards and citations for service and academic achievement.  Mr. Sosso was honored with inclusion in the inaugural edition of The Best Lawyers in America Consumer Guide.
